Overview of the role

Reporting to the ANZ Market Leader, you will sit on the dss+ ANZ Leadership Team and lead the strategic growth of our infrastructure business across Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Brisbane, you will take ownership of building, positioning and scaling our risk- and safety-focused consulting business for infrastructure clients — including construction, ports, rail and utilities — while also supporting mining and industrial clients where aligned to opportunity and your network.

You will have autonomy and visibility to shape our go-to-market approach, deepen senior client relationships, strengthen team capability in Queensland and deliver meaningful outcomes that protect people and enable resilient infrastructure delivery.

What will you do?

  • Lead business development and commercial growth in the infrastructure sector across ANZ.

  • Identify, pursue and convert new business opportunities with owners, operators and major delivery organisations.

  • Serve as a trusted senior advisor to executives and project leaders across construction, ports, rail and utilities.

  • Build compelling risk and safety value propositions tailored to industry needs.

  • Lead, develop and coach the dss+ Queensland consulting team.

  • Lead projects with Queensland infrastructure, mining and industrial clients.

  • Build cross-functional delivery teams across dss+, deploying technical, cultural and behavioural expertise as needed.

  • Act as executive sponsor on major projects and strategic accounts, ensuring long-term client partnership and value creation.

  • Strengthen dss+ presence in the infrastructure ecosystem through thought leadership, partnerships, events and external representation.

Job requirements

What we are looking for

  • 15+ years of experience in consulting or senior operational leadership roles.

  • Proven success in business development personally opening doors, building pipeline and closing work.

  • Strong network and relationships across infrastructure (construction, ports, rail, utilities), ideally with exposure to mining.

  • Experience in risk management, safety or operational excellence in high-risk, complex environments (mining, oil and gas, power, construction etc).

  • A deep interest in human-centred approaches to safety and performance, and the ability to learn and apply dss+ approaches to culture change.

  • Confidence and credibility engaging at C-suite level and in major project governance forums.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop teams, and foster collaborative, high-performance culture.

  • Entrepreneurial drive and resilience — motivated to build and scale a business, not only manage one.
