Teams around the globe work with clients in metals and mining, chemicals, oil and gas, power and utilities, agriculture, food and beverage, industrial and manufacturing, and private equity.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced ESG Consultant to join our China team, mostly supporting clients in the chemicals, metals & mining, and industrial sectors across China. The ideal candidate will bring deep sectoral knowledge, regulatory insight, and strategic ESG advisory capabilities to help clients navigate evolving sustainability expectations, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder demands.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Advisory & Strategy Development – working closely with our clients on their new and existing ESG programs
Leading ESG strategy development and implementation for clients
Conducting ESG materiality assessments, gap analyses, and benchmarking studies.
Advising on ESG integration into corporate strategy, risk management, and operations.
Ensuring our clients are aware of Regulatory & Standards Compliance
Interpreting and applying Chinese and international ESG regulations, for example CSRC, SASAC, EU CSRD, and global frameworks (GRI, TCFD, ISSB, etc.).
Supporting clients in ESG reporting, disclosures, and assurance readiness.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication. Facilitating stakeholder engagement processes, including internal workshops and external consultations.
Developing ESG narratives and communication strategies for investors, regulators, and communities.
Guiding clients in ESG data collection, KPI development, and performance tracking.
Supporting implementation of ESG software tools and digital platforms if needed.
Providing insights into ESG risks and opportunities specific to chemicals, metals & mining, and industrial operations if needed (e.g., decarbonization, water stewardship, circular economy, biodiversity impacts).
Job requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or related field
8+ years of ESG consulting or corporate sustainability experience is essential, preferably in industrial sectors.
Strong understanding of China’s ESG regulatory landscape and global sustainability standards.
Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Fluency in Mandarin and English is required.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with ESG ratings (MSCI, Sustainalytics, etc.) and investor expectations.
Familiarity with climate risk modeling, life cycle assessments, or supply chain ESG.
Proven experience working with clients in chemicals, mining, or industrial manufacturing.
