Role Description 

The Senior Consultant – SIF will apply dss+ SIF prevention methodologies to solve client SIF problems, improve client SIF performance, and build sustainable client SIF prevention processes. 

This Senior Consultant will… 

  • Meet and work with executives, middle-management, safety professionals, front-line supervisors and workers 

  • Discover and develop client interests in SIF Prevention 

  • Implement processes aimed at controlling SIF risk 

  • Work closely with clients in every stage of project implementation 

  • Deliver sustained SIF performance improvement for our clients 

  • Work with other dss+ SIF Consultants and SIF Experts to develop internal organizational capabilities in SIF, as well as developing and maintaining centerline collateral materials 

This Senior Consultant will be expected to learn the dss+ ORM theory and delivery methodologies, and how they are integral to SIF Prevention. Some of these dss+ ORM services include: the Safety Perception Survey, dss+ Bradley Curve benchmarking,  ORM Assessments, Risk Aware Culture, and Leader Capability Development. SIF Prevention can be a stand-alone service, or a workstream in a larger, more comprehensive risk reduction project. In addition to leading SIF Risk Management projects, this Consultant will periodically participate as a team member on project teams where these other services are being delivered. 

 

Qualifications 

To be successful in this role, and to be a leading candidate for consideration, you will need to meet these qualifying characteristics.  

  • 5 years experience managing SIF Prevention program elements, in general industry and/or consulting 

  • 10+ years experience in the safety profession, in general industry and/or consulting 

  • Proven field-level experiences with essential safety processes, including:

    -Life-Saving Rules – development and implementation 

    -Cause Evaluations/Root-Cause Analysis  

    -Corrective and Preventive Actions, with application of Hierarchy of Controls 

    -EHS Metrics Dashboards 

  • Demonstrated understanding of the definitions and concepts of SIF, SIF Precursors, SIF Potential Decision Logic, SIF Risk Situations, and SIF Data Analytics 

  • Ability to explain SIF prevention theory in a manner that influences key persons in client organizations to sponsor and lead SIF mitigation initiatives. 

  • A BS Degree in safety engineering, safety management, risk management, or other similar engineering or science degree. 

  • Professional Safety & Health Certification (CSP, CIH), is a plus. 

  • Ability to travel throughout the US, Canada, and globally – approximately 60-70% - is required. 

  • Demonstrated project management skills. 

  • Business development experience.  

  • Familiarity with the commercial aspects of consulting operations
