The Role

As a Manager, you will lead and deliver complex client engagements that identify, design, and implement effective solutions to produce a lasting impact for clients. You will be expected to drive the direction of the engagement and effectively manage the team and long-term relationship with clients to deliver high performance or to deliver the scope of work. Beyond client project work, Managers are expected to contribute to the development of new consulting opportunities and provide regional and global thought leadership to innovate offerings and approaches. You must be a self-starter, who is able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment and must be driven to produce improvement initiatives both internally and with clients.

You will be instrumental in driving revenue and profit growth in the Power & Utilities industry, all while working closely with thought leaders to innovate our approach and deliver exceptional value to our clients.

 

Responsibilities will include:

Technical Expertise

  • Maintaining strong Power & utilities industry knowledge; stay abreast of current trends, pricing and new technology related to industry or technical practice to facilitate and add value in evaluation and recommendation of new processes

  • Proactively identifying opportunities and/or risks, potential solutions, and key trends relating in the Power & utilities industry, including development and enhancement of IP

  • Developing and publishing thought leadership and new perspectives, including dss+ Points of View, and educating key stakeholders internally and externally

Leadership

  • Living and breathing the dss+ Core Values and Mission Critical Behaviors, and coaching others to do the same

  • Overseeing project team’s performance and quality of delivery, offering guidance and advice where needed and providing necessary feedback to the team (as an instrumental part of their development) and to management as appropriate

  • Offering guidance and support to the team - especially junior resources, regarding best practices in project management, execution of deliverables and interactions with clients

Project Management & Execution

  • Effectively manages a large engagement or several smaller engagements simultaneously that deliver value to clients

  • Implementing project management practices to ensure the effective execution of the project, including project planning, project governance and risk management

  • Supporting execution of an assessment or implementation project to accelerate organizational transformation and results delivery using relevant methodologies and approaches

  • Design and conduct assessments and lead development of recommendations resulting from the findings and design and implement solutions

  • Structuring problems effectively to develop key insights and sound recommendations that identify and close performance gaps for the client

  • Writing and presenting independent analyses and recommendations that influence and persuade clients including difficult audiences to achieve desired outcomes

  • Facilitating team / client meetings effectively to drive decisions or alignment or manage change among a diverse group

  • Supporting quality control of client deliverables by conducting peer reviews, etc.

  • Managing high level interactions, developing rapport, respect with key client stakeholders.

 

Business Development

  • Playing an integral role as part of dss+ account teams to prospect for new clients and growing existing clients

  • Supporting dss+ Leadership to proactively identify business leads and targets, build a strong pipeline, and progress opportunities along the pipeline to generate sales

  • Proactively identifying and defining client challenges and solutions and converting that into a potential opportunity

  • Playing an integral role in drafting and presenting proposals to drive execution of an assessment or implementation including defining the scope and architecting the solution

Qualifications

  • Current knowledge of the Power & Utilities industry, including key trends, major players in the market, key risks, challenges, and value drivers. Experience in the gas or electric utilities would be particularly valued.

  • You have experience from both industry and management consulting

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant industry solutions and best practices in operational risk, operational excellence, and sustainability practice lines

  • More than 6 years of experience in delivering growth and key services in transforming companies in the Power & Utilities Industry

  • Exceptional communication skill, with the ability to effectively drive business development, solution development, and high-quality delivery of key services

  • Proven experience in managing consulting projects

  • Successful candidates will have a solid foundation in account management, with a focus on client retention, revenue growth, and customer satisfaction

  • An entrepreneurial spirit, results-focused, and adept at thriving in a fast-paced, rapidly growing consulting environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or business; MBA or MS preferred

  • More than 6 years of professional experience in management consulting; deep understanding of management consulting services and how they can benefit clients. Well-versed in the industry trends and challenges facing prospective clients

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a team-working attitude to collaborate within fast-paced, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary teams

  • Travel of up to 75% is required
